Visit to and from the Gymnase de Burier Getting to know St. George’s neighbours Year 12 and 13 French students
from St. George's school invited a group of students from the ‘Gymnase de
Burier’ to present the school community and acknowledge the
differences in school life. The aim of this event was to
expand social connections and to appreciate the differences between Swiss
public schools and private international schools. Both schools prepared
short presentations about their educational and recreational systems.
This was followed by conversational debate in small groups.
We ended the occasion by having refreshments with newly made
friends. A
number of weeks later, St.
George’s students got an invitation from the English speaking students
of the ‘Gymnase de Burier’ to experience the differences between the
environments. St. George's students were guided around the main building
and enjoyed the home made snacks. It was interesting to observe how
the Swiss public school differed from a small community like St. George's.
Hopefully, in the near future both schools will join forces again and follow a
variety of events such as sports, debating clubs and theatrical
performances. Katya
