On
Monday the 19th of March, St. George’s held a “Spanish
Day”. The Spanish
speaking community of the school organized traditional games and
different fun activities, which were much appreciated by all.
During
the day, the lounge was decorated with flags and posters containing
information and pictures related to Hispanic cultures. At
assembly, the students learnt some facts about Spanish and why it is
interesting to study and speak the language. Break
time was the moment to smash the “piñatas” made by Andrea and Ane.
Fortunately, Ed, Adam and Martin were very skilful with the baseball bat
and nobody was hurt. While
eating delicious paella, students were able to test their knowledge
about the culture of the Spanish Speaking countries. The prize to be won
was a genuine Mexican “piñata” full of sweets. After
lunch, Alex and Gaby put on their typical flamenco dress and
demonstrated this colourful dance to students and staff.
Typical
Spanish sweets were sold after school and the money was given to Social
Services. Mr Alberto Hernandez
