Year 8, Creative Arts Day On the 4th of June, all of the Year 8 (excluding those going to the ADISR Athletics), accompanied by Mlle Aminot and Miss Beckett, visited a theatre – “Le Petit Théâtre” – the aim was to act in French. We were welcomed by two friendly individuals, who started the day off by asking us to do several activities in order to get us very concentrated on the task ahead of us. The atmosphere wasn’t tense at all – in fact, there was a lot of laughter while doing small stage sketches, including a circus, with the presenters and clowns; and a mysterious play - the finale of our outing – set in an orphanage. Many of us learnt some valuable skills in acting, presenting, directing/commenting on sketches, and sound or lighting. All in French!!! I’m sure my classmates will agree that it was a fantastic outing and we all thoroughly enjoyed a day escaping school! Robin Cowie, 8x |

Model UN Next year St. George's will be launching a Model UN programme. In preparation for that, on Tuesday the 21st of June, Mr Gillan and Miss Aminot invited Mrs Patricia Jellicoe and Mrs Margaret Taylor to St. George's to speak to interested students on the nature of this very worthwhile and interesting programme. Thank you most sincerely to both our guests for their guidance and support. The progress of this endeavour will be recorded in the Term News section of this website over the coming academic year.

Visit from a Red Cross Delegate As part of the French cultural programme, Mlle Aminot organised a visit from a Red Cross Delegate to talk to the students in Years 11, 12 and 13. On Tuesday the 21st of June, Mr Nicolas Masson, son of Madame Masson, teacher of Italian and French, visited St. George's to give a talk on his work and experiences in Iraq as a Red Cross Delegate. The students, who have been following the war in Iraq from the media's perspective, were pleased to be able to have a fresh outlook presented to them. The French Dept would like to thank Nicolas for taking time out of his busy schedule to give this very interesting and informative talk.
