Social Services Update

Here is a brief résumé of the Summer Term's events.  We began the term with our traditional balloon launch.  It was a very enjoyable afternoon and the sum of  300 chf was raised for our chosen charities.

bulletIn May we welcomed the old people from the Burier Retirement Home.  The Burier residents gave us a photo album of their trip to Basel which was a nice souvenir for our students who had accompanied them on this trip.  Thank you to everyone who made the day such a pleasant one and to Mr Ferrari, aged 102, the oldest resident of the home.  We look forward to seeing him and all our other guests again next year.

Year 7 boys Steven, Pablo, Edward, William and Alexandre escort one of the Burier residents to the dining room.

bulletThe Junior Department Summer Fête was another great success.  The sum of 2,617.35 chf was raised.  Well done everyone!  The money raised will be donated to the El Shaddai Children's Home in India. Mrs Hellier, who used to work in the JD but who now lives in Goa, proposed this charity.
bulletThanks also goes to form 7x who raised 192.50 chf this term and to form 9x who raised 257.30 chf.

Here is an interesting statistic from the Social Services Committee - since September 2002 a total of 16,725.95 chf has been raised! This is an excellent total amount! During the year the following donations were made:

2,000 chf to Cregg House Centre for the Mentally Handicapped in Ireland
1,500 chf to the Katia Van Weel Foundation
1,500 chf to Global Harmony
2,000 to Earthquake Relief in Algeria
1,000 to Cartons du Coeur
1,000 to L'Armée du Salut

See you all in Autumn 2003
