On Thursday 28th of June the St. George's Prize Giving and Graduation ceremony for the academic year 2000 - 2001 took place in the sports hall.
During the ceremony addresses were given to the assembled group of staff, students, graduates, School Council members, parents and friends by Mr Guy Chessex, Chairman of the School Council, Mrs Gaye Zund, Headmistress and Lord Jellicoe, our guest speaker. After the speeches the prize giving ceremony took place. Prizes were awarded to students in recognition of their dedication and academic prowess.
Following several musical performances by the St. George's School choirs, accompanied by Mr Jeremy Mannings and conducted by Mrs Lyn Baerfuss, the moment the graduates had been waiting for finally came to pass. Looking bright, beautiful, and justifiably proud the 12 graduates went up to receive their Certificate of High School Graduation from the guest speaker Lord Jellicoe.
The ceremony closed with a final address made by the Head of School, Robert Ives. This is the first year in the history of the school that a boy was elected as Head of School!! Perhaps a sign of things to come ....
