This term, the School Student Council which had been under discussion for a number of months, finally came into being. 

Over the period 16th of June 2000 to the 27th of June 2000, students and staff were invited to stand as candidates, election campaigns were organised and voting took place. 

The aims of our School Council are as follows :

 

For the student representatives to work with the staff to improve the quality of life in our school.

For the individual members to develop leadership, initiative and an unselfish interest in the well being of our whole school community.

Each year group was invited to participate in this exciting new departure, the only proviso being that a potential representative had to possess the qualities of common sense, commitment, a willingness to attend regular meetings and had to have a desire to be involved in the running of the school.  Representation was as follows:

 

Years 7, 8 and 9                   3 Representatives

Years 10 and 11                  2 Representatives

Years 12 and 13                  2 Representatives

Prefect Body                        2 Representatives

Staff                                       2 Representatives

 

On the 26th of June, voting took place and on the 27th of June the following students, who had received the most votes, were declared elected:
On 27th of June the School Council held its inaugural meeting and made an auspicious start to its career.
