The Annual House Play Competition took place in the School Hall on Friday the 9th of March. This year students had the arduous task of putting on "The Importance of Being Ernest". Atalanta led the proceedings and gave an outstanding performance. They were quickly followed by Minerva who were equally impressive. Finally, it was Diana's turn and they too did a fine job. Then it was over to the judges Miss Eastham, Mrs Brown and Mrs Sanford to make that all important and very difficult decision. The judges were full of praise for the efforts of all three Houses. In particular the judges were impressed with the acting skills of the students, their impeccable accents and timing, their use of the stage and their delivery of lines. They awarded the Best Actor award to Adam Hutton (Atalanta) and Best Actress to Tharika Fuhrer (Minerva) with special mentions going to Olly Hodding (Minerva) and Lauren Watson (Atalanta). Equally impressive were the programmes produced by each of the Houses for the event. Atalanta's "Baby in a Holdall", Minerva's "Cecily's Diary" and Diana's "Miniature Replica Stage" were all lauded. In a close run competition, the honours for Best Programme went to Diana House. The award for the Best Set went to Minerva House with special mention being made about the special touches and decorations which made their garden scene so effective. The judges complimented Atalanta House on their excellent fireplace, designed and built by the students in Atalanta House themselves. Finally, the moment of truth and the news we had all been waiting for. The winners of the Inter House Play Competition for 2007 were .... Atalanta House. Congratulations to all the directors of each of the plays but particular congratulations to Patrick Scully, Dylan Pillarski and Thomas Clayton the Atalanta House Directors.
