Social Services Update

The Social Services committee have been very busy this term. The JD raised an incredible 3,000 Swiss francs to send to children in need in Tsunami hit regions. Thanks to the generosity of staff, students and parents, the Senior School collected one cubic metre of items of basic hygiene and stationery which has been dispatched to Tsunami hit schools in Sri Lanka.

We also successfully sold roses on Valentine’s day and chocolate hearts and saw 250 balloons fly up in the air towards the German Border. All together, it is an impressive 6,500 francs that the students, parents and staff have raised this term. Well done to everyone and thank you very much.

Next term we will be equally busy. Students will continue their fund-raising activities in school and will take part in the annual Burier afternoon, where, in May, we welcome a group of senior citizens to St. George's for afternoon tea and a concert. Students will also be involved in St George’s first CD production.

The Social Services committee and the Music Department will jointly be organising the recording of all different kinds of musical talents on a CD. All profits will go to “Fond’action contre le cancer” and Doctor Leyvraz in Lausanne to support Margaux in her daily fight against the disease. It is important for Margaux, her relatives and friends, to show that we do care.

This CD will also be a good opportunity for everyone to keep a souvenir of this school year and a great idea for your next Christmas present ! The recording and mixing will take place on May 30th and CD's should be on sale from June 15th to Graduation Day.  Many parents, students and staff have already placed an order for one or more CD’s. We are counting on your generosity to make this event an unqualified success.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us in school.
