It is tempting to look at those who achieve success and simply say that they are blessed. Perhaps talented people are born with genetic good fortune but for the athlete, the academic or the musician to truly celebrate an achievement, it is always preceded by hard work. The Inter-House competitions this term were as closely contested as usual, but Atalanta's never-say-die spirit saw them pick up most of the trophies. They won the indoor football, volleyball and skiing titles. Only Diana's victory in the unihoc prevented a clean sweep. In Inter-School competitions,
the swim team led the way in January with yet another outstanding
display. Amongst a host of medals won by our pupils in Basel,
Juliet Pearce picked up 3 individual gold medals. You might be

in the pool before any of us have even got out

They organised this on their own. Congratulations on your initiative and commitment girls.

Along with Ticiana Turbay they also won the girls' team cup. Joining them on the podium were Rahul Nariani and Branden Stobbs who won silver and bronze medals in the junior boys' tournament. At the end of term the SGIS volleyball championships took place in Lausanne. Our B team were placed third in Division 2 whilst the A squad were runners up in Division 1.

In skiing, one name to watch for in the future is that of Adelaide Wood from Year 7 . Not only did she win 2 bronze medals at the ADISR championships in Gstaad, but she also beat all the seniors in the downhill at our own Inter-House races. Special mention also this term goes to Ed Harty who became the first person at St. George's to complete all the badges in the Swiss Snow League! Congratulations Ed.
