Greek Day

A special Greek Day for Year 4 took place in the JD on the 4th of March.  Let's hear from Josephine and Michelle from Year 4 to see how the day went ...

Greek Day

First we came to school all happy and excited. We didn’t know what was going to happen.

We had to bring in a white cloth and a belt. Then we went to our classroom. Then we went to the assembly room and got told a story by Mr. Katsaitis called Odysseus and the Cyclops. I think it was a very interesting and scary story.

Afterwards, we went to the classroom and we made a Greek tile. First we had to sketch a picture on rough paper. The picture had to be based on the story we had been told. Next, we rolled out the clay for the tile until it was the shape of a tile. Then, we got a cocktail stick and carved on our picture. Next we left it to dry.

Next, we made some Greek biscuits. We rolled the biscuit dough into shapes. Then we put them into the oven to cook. The biscuits had sugar or sesame seeds on top of them.

It had been a fun morning. Next we dressed up like a Greek person in the white cloth we brought to school. Then we put on a Greek wreath, it was painted gold. The girls dressed up as Greek ladies.

Next we went outside to have some photos taken. We were all in our Greek clothes. All the girls were together in their photo and all the boys were together in their photo. After that we had a photo altogether.

Then we had some tasters. We had some feta cheese, some special Greek bread, pistachio nuts and some Greek yoghurt. It was really yummy.
