Inter House Cookery Competition

The inaugural Inter House Cookery Competition took place on Monday the 8th of March at 4.15 in the Chalet kitchen.  Under the watchful eyes of the organisers Mrs Schibler, Miss French and Mr Jupp, the House teams toiled over  hot stoves in an attempt to produce a starter, a main course and a dessert from the given ingredients in the set time.

Based roughly on the BBC's "Ready, Steady, Cook" TV programme, each House was given a list of the following ingredients which had to be used:  tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, courgettes, spring onions, cream, cheese, chicken, fruit and chocolate.  A larder well stocked with onions, garlic, salt, pepper, oil, rice, pasta, flour, milk, butter, eggs, bread, herbs and spices was also made available as were the usual kitchen utensils, bowls and trays.

House teams were assessed under the following categories: team-work, communication skills, hygiene, use of utensils, organisation, presentation, use of ingredients, originality and, of course, on the taste of their finished dishes.

Judges for the occasion were Miss Jane Bolton, Miss Kirsty Hammal, Mrs Fiona Ward, Mr Stephen Jones and Miss Nicole Baudet.

Winners on this occasion were Minerva House .... well done to the Minerva team of Karla Perusquia, Anna Volkova, Katya Ivashchenko, Faisal Baeshean, Victoria Di Napoli, Florencia Aller.
