Courtesy of Miss Sonia Eastham and some of the students of Year 11, the TES English Newsday took place on Thursday 14th of March. After the highs of victory last year in the International Section - would TES 2002 live up to expectations? Well let's hear it straight from the horse's mouth or at least the editor's mouth .... over to you Selina...
"I’m delighted to have been able to be a part of this.
Although I thought I it was going to be far more stressful than it actually was.
Everyone was calm and managed things well and everyone had an excellent judgment
of time. I have enjoyed the experience very much and, so I believe, have the
others who have participated.
The sub-editors were brilliant. They did their jobs very well. They were
always there pushing people to get their articles written. I especially want to
thank Nick for being very organised and for helping everyone with their computer
problems. He managed to cope very well under pressure.
I found there were few disagreements but they all turned out
fine in the end. There was one amusing dispute about the font that people would
be using. That ended well with a group decision.
I know that many of the team didn’t want to be here today. The senior
section of the school went on the ski trips today. We had to miss a whole day. I
must say though it was worth it.
Everyone helped everyone else and there was a nice easy atmosphere. In the
last hour though the tension began to build up. Some pages weren’t finished,
urg! It was well done in the end!
I didn’t hear a squeak from Mayu. She didn’t really need help she had it
all organised. I want to thank the team for being very adult and professional
about the doing the Newspaper. It has been a very tiring for everybody. We all,
though, are pleased with the result and what we have achieved".
