On the 13th of February 2001, for the first time ever, students of St. George's School got involved in a "French" Newspaper Writing Competition run by the TES (Times Educational Supplement) in the U.K.
Under the expert guidance of Mlle Aminot of the French Department and Miss Eastham of the English Department, who had taken part in the competition in their previous schools, students, as part of their after-school activities, researched and wrote articles in French and obtained suitable images and adverts for use on the big day.
Help with Desktop Publishing and I.T. matters was given by Miss Hickey in a few brief after-school sessions but the students were left to their own devices where technological matters were concerned on the day!! From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on the 13th, the I.T. room was transformed into a real-live, printing works where students slaved over the "press" turning their articles and ideas into final copy. Tensions and tempers often ran high, but on the whole the operation ran smoothly and by the end of the day we had a publication to be really proud of.
At 5 o'clock on the 13th, Mlle Aminot sped away to the Post Office in Clarens to make sure that the 12 page all colour Newspaper, "Tout Schuss" was post marked with the correct date and dispatched without delay to the judges in the U.K.
Results of the competition are expected sometime in June.

Je fais partie de l'equipe de journal et j’aimerais vous présenter notre équipe! Nous sommes 16 personnes qui faisons un travail fantastique. Je vais vous présenter chaque personne brièvement.
James est responsable de tout ce qui concerne la formation des articles. Nicola est éditrice, Jenny est assistante du journal et décide dans quelles pages il faut insérer les articles. Iyabode est responsable des pages "magazine". Lizzie s'occupe de la rubrique qui vous parlera des actualités internationales, nationales et locales. Quant à Ernesto, il est notre journaliste sportif du jour. Puis il y a tous les autres, qui sont responsables de la mise en page: Jenny, Chantelle, Chris, Shahrinaz, et Georgina.
Finalement, il y a ceux qui écrivent les articles: Chantelle, Amy, Angela, Georgina, Liz, Radmila et moi, Rani.
Il est intéressant de nous voir: certains sont plus stressés que d’autres parce qu’ ils sont sous plus de pression, mais l’ambiance est fantastique. Tout le monde fait de son mieux pour que tout se déroule de la meilleure façon. Nous voulons vous offrir le meilleur journal que vous n'ayez jamais lu auparavant!
