On Wednesday the 14th of March, it was the turn of the English Department to transform themselves into a real live Newspaper Printing works.  Much had been learned from the French TES Newsday and the team of the Helvetica Herald, under the watchful eye of Miss Eastham was keen to surpass the efforts of 13th of February.

But surpass them they certainly did!!  The finished product, all colour 14-page "Helvetica Herald" was truly spectacular, full of articles on local and international news, features, sports reviews, fashion spreads and entertainment news.  Full credit to Miss Eastham, her editors and journalists.  We await word from the judges with quiet confidence!!!

A last word from Nicola and Liz, our editors ... so girls, what was the day really like?

Today has been frantic.  Journalists and editors rushing around the large computer room.  "What is it saved under?"  "Do we need an extra page?"  "Whose article is this?"  These are just a few bite-sized chunks of the conversations flying about the room.  Along with the average stresses of creating a newspaper, the thought of visiting London and the wonderful thrill of missing lessons is at the forefront of everyone's mind.

The four groups of journalists (news, features, travel and sport) are all concentrating very hard on their pages, resizing photos, deleting and adding text.  The co-editors, Judith, Ernesto, Chris, Angela, Jenny and Georgina had the important job of choosing articles and the style of the page.  As well as the numerous editors, the teachers pop in for moral support and Miss Eastham is patiently sorting out our queries and questions.

We have encountered numerous problems with our "required" rticle on Formula One.  Northing that has happened in recent years has improved safety in normal family cars.  It would seem many garages around the world are unaware about what is happening in the Formula One world.

As many of you will know, tomorrow is Non-Smoking Day.  We hope people all over the world will be tossing their cigarette packets and lighters into the bin.  Tomorrow is the day to end nicotine stained hands, bad breath and rattling coughs.  There are many ways to quit smoking but if you need any help, our smoking article should persuade you and your GP will give you expert advice on the products available.

Enjoy Helvetica Herald.
