The Social Services Committee enjoyed a busy and financially fruitful term. Under the guidance of Madame Barbara Chambovey, who replaced Madame Françoise Marabotto as Head of Social Services, the team organised a number of interesting and financially rewarding events.

Pictured with Madame Chambovey are the Social Services Representatives: Rani, Roshane, Margaux, Annabel, Ana Maria, Valerie, Rebecca, Michelle, Kshama, Megan and Tamara.
Here is a brief recap of our activities this term:
| 1,720 Sfr was collected for the earthquake victims in India. Thank
you all for your generous
donations. | |
| The Balloon Launch, Afternoon Tea and Second Hand Book Sale were all
extremely popular. Thanks to Mr. Jones and Mr. Shaw for blowing up
about 220 balloons (with the help of a canister of gas)!!! Three
balloons have already been found - the first one in Adelboden, another in
Interlaken and a third in the North of Italy. The deadline for the
return of the tags is 10th June. Don't forget to inform Madame
Chambovey when you receive yours.
| Valentine's Day was suitably marked by the delivery of hand-made roses and
cards. Thanks to Nicola and her mum for teaching us how to make such
beautiful paper roses!
| Shoe-cleaning activities during lunchtimes kept forms busy, shoes shined
and money rolling into our coffers. Students enjoyed the learning
experience of choosing between blue and black polish. Staff weren't so
sure!!! | |
| Bake sales and drink sales at Inter-House events also proved to be popular
... but don't forget folks to clean up after the event.
| A Non-Uniform Day proved to be very successful, students paying 3 Sfr for
the privilege of wearing their own clothes.
| Thanks to Rebecca and Michelle who helped Mme Falconnier to prepare
"Les Cartons du Coeurs" in Clarens.
| The total amount raised this term from our various fund-raising events was Sfr 5,265.85. Well done and thank you to all who gave their money and time so generously. Thanks also to Rani, Michelle, Rebecca and Miss Hickey who advertised all events. |
