St. George’s Annual Balloon Launch, 23rd February, 2000
The annual Balloon Launch took place in the school grounds on the 23rd of February. This year’s event proved to be as popular and as exciting as last year’s. Over 150 balloons were sold and some 450 sfr was raised for Social Services. Prizes are given to the balloon which travels the furthest distance, the shortest distance and the one whose tag is returned first. The closing date for the return of balloon tags is June 10th
Last year, the winning balloon travelled as far as Poland. This year, the balloons seem to be travelling towards Italy. Two were found near Martigny. (Bethan Bryant and Robert Findlay of the Junior Department). A third balloon was found 50 km south of Venice (Carine Habib of the Junior Department). We are all eagerly awaiting the return of the tag for the furthest travelled balloon.
| The Junior Department’s Stephanie, Tamara, Michelle and Rebecca anxiously await the start of the Balloon Launch. |
