The highlight of the Creative Arts calendar during the Spring Term was undoubtedly the Creative Arts Competition held on Friday the 3rd of March, 2000.
Each of the Houses were given the following brief:
Theme : The Four Seasons

Poetry/Prose : An example of each, one in French and one in English.
Drama : May be a scene from a play, a sketch, a dance etc. Students may write their own sketch.
A

This should be imaginative and

The evening of the performance proved to be very enjoyable. Diana based their performance on Greek Mythology and on how, according to Greek Mythology, Winter started. Persephone, daughter of Demeter (Goddess of Earth) agrees to marry Hades (God of the underworld). Demeter fails to stop Hades from taking Persephone to the underworld and vents his anger in the form of Winter.
Minerva’s Spring adaptation was highly entertaining and focused on how in Spring a young man’s fancy turns to love. We were treated to a performance from Minola, a band, featuring Chris Reilly, Amy Hellier, Georgina Harty, Chloe Harty and Edward Harty. Minerva also brought across that in choosing a mate, the girl may not always choose the loudest, “coolest”, trendiest boy but, may go for the shy, sensitive but devoted type!!! This gave us all food for thought.
Atalanta’s Summer adaptation was loosely based on Grease and also focused on love . The Atalanta group all performed in their house t-shirts which proved to be a novel approach and entertained us with lively singing and dancing.
As always, there can only be one winner, and this year the honours went to Diana for their excellent interpretation of Winter. Congratulations and well done to the directors, producers and cast members of Diana and indeed of all the Houses for an entertaining and exciting evening.
