The Junior Department welcomed 20 new students from 15 new families at the beginning of the academic year and it is a pleasure to see all the children so happy and settled.

It was also a pleasure to welcome several new members of staff ...

Mme Monique Grollimund who teaches Junior French and Mrs Susan Long who provides Learning Support.

Miss Zarina Rauf,a classroom assistant in Years 5 & 6 and teacher of Junior Art.

Miss Katrina Sedgwick, who teaches Year 3 (formerly an EFL teacher in the Secondary School).

Mrs. Helen Vahlé, who teaches Year 2.

The JD also welcomed two new "furry" friends this term : "Molly" a frisky Springer Spaniel pup and "Mr Dupond" the JD’s cuddly  rabbit!

The term got off to a flying start with several sporting achievements. Congratulations to Minami Nakama for her bronze medal at the SGIS Cross-Country race in October, as well as a huge "well done" to the rest of the Junior Department racers.

Atalanta House won the first Inter-House competition of the year, the Cross-Country, although the event had to be staged over two days due to torrential rain which meant that only the infants completed the course on Monday 4th of October. Luckily the sun shone and the junior children were able to compete again on Wednesday, 6th October and it was wonderful to see whole school participation and total enthusiasm at the event.

The Junior Department also enjoyed the friendly football match held against the International School of Lausanne on Wednesday, 6th October. Both teams played well although St. George’s 4 goals weren’t quite enough against ISL’s 14 !

The 29th of October saw the JD’s fancy dress Halloween House Party. A memorable day for all, elements of which are captured in the following snaps.
