Welcome to The Dragon, the informal press of St. George’s School in Switzerland.
Each month, or every five weeks, depending on how busy the students are, an issue of this newspaper, that varies in size according to each edition, is published and sold around the environs of the school. All money raised, when copies are sold for a minimal fee of 2 Sfr, is added to the school’s social services money and sent to the school’s chosen charity. The very first issue of this newspaper was published in December 1998, so we have just celebrated our first birthday.
The editing team of The Dragon aims to give the students of St. George’s a voice, and supply friendly support through the medium of Dragon Lips, which is our problem page. We also gather harmless gossip from around the school, so that we can inform the reader of how the latest school play or Inter-house competitions are progressing. Students can usually check in The Dragon for movie times in the local cinemas for weekend sorties, or try out the newest recipes for snacks in the latest issue. A copy of The Dragon can usually be found at your disposal in the library, where you can peruse it at your leisure, free of charge.
Recently we have added a monthly update on House News so that each of the school’s Houses: Diana, Minerva and Atalanta, can express their views on school events and keep its members posted on the next Inter-House competitions.
As yet, The Dragon is still barely out of its printer shell, but it is hoped that with time, it will grow to become a fully-fledged newspaper.
