Staff Leavers

At the end of the Autumn Term, we said good bye to two very valued members of staff, Richard Lineham and Jan Byng, at the Leavers Party held on Friday the 8th of December.

Richard Lineham

Mr Richard Lineham has been at St. George’s since September 2002. Engaged as a Science teacher he has been a popular teacher in the Senior School having taught all three Sciences. In addition to his qualities as a teacher within the classroom his passion for the outdoors has been a real bonus to the school.

During his time with us he has organised and accompanied expeditions, camping trips, ski courses and rock climbing to name just a few activities. He introduced the LVS Award Scheme and this term has also served as CAS coordinator for the IB students.

Having climbed all the mountains in Switzerland, skied every run and kayaked down every river he plans to move to New Zealand with his fiancée to seek out new challenges.  We wish Mr Lineham all the best for the future.

 Jan Byng

Ms Jan Byng planned to come to St George’s for just a few months to cover the maternity leave for the PE teacher. That was back in November 1990 - 16 years ago! In the past 16 years she has fulfilled many roles from Housemistress to the boarders when they lived in the Chalet, to the Head of the PE department, where she led school teams to victory, introduced Sports Science and set up the ski trips.

She has also taught Geography, and her musical talents have been much appreciated in the choir and the Jazz band. She has finally decided to leave St. George’s to pursue a business venture in the French Alps and we wish her every success.
