Here is a little flashback of the Autumn term events. Indeed, it has
been a very busy term as usual. Every tutor group succeeded in raising some money through
a great variety of activities. Some groups did not quite make it to the 150.- frs target
but it was felt that they did not need to do so as they had set up original ideas like
the treasure hunt, the Candy feast or the framed pictures after the House party. Bake sales
were, once again all the rage, it is nice to see you eat so much and have such a large
appetite, it shows you are in good health! All in all, we raised more than 2000.- fs this term.
We will give you more precise figures next year. The JD, through Mrs Shaw organised their
fund-raising activity, "presents in a shoe box", which was a great success.
So was their Halloween party, well done and thank you to them for supporting the poorer people
in our local area.
The Senior School also contributed to this by collecting food and items
of hygiene for Les Cartons du Coeur. As a result, the school may decide to build an
extension building to store all your donations!...there are 25 bags full of essential
products heading to them today, thanks to you and your parents' generosity.
Do you want another example of altruism? The Choir and the Jazz band
performed live in the
Burier Retirement Home. They did not have to do it, but they went down
there regardless to spend a bit of time with the pensioners. Giving and
receiving this kind of emotions is priceless. A particular thank you to Alex Barrios for making the extra effort to
organise all this.
Well done Alex, it was a brilliant idea. The Poppy sale was also a
success, it is important not to forget people who fought for our freedom.
Parts of the money raised will go to the following charities: Amnesty
International, Terre des Hommes, Katia Van Weel foundation, Les Cartons de Coeur and
Anidan. Please refer to the Social Services Board by room 2 for more details on this in
January.
One downside to finish - the IOU system which was regularly
abused. Do not forget that it is up to you to pay your IOU's as quickly as you can and not wait to be
chased. We are thinking of a new system, some people have already made suggestions to
improve the situation. Please see us if you think you can help positively.
Thank you to all of you, may your Christmas holiday bring you all the
joy and, above all, the rest you deserve! See you all next year!
