Building Work

At a recent PLG meeting, Mrs Steinson presented the building plans for the extension of the main school building:-

Phase 1 - This will incorporate new laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as a Preparation Room and Dark Room. These will be equipped according to Swiss safety standards. A new Kitchen and large Dining Room will also be part of the extension and will accommodate our 2-sitting arrangement for lunchtime meals (meals are currently, and will continue to be, cooked on the premises). There will also be disability access with ramps and a lift from basement to the third floor. A delivery area will be incorporated alongside the main building on the entrance road from the Lake.

Phase 2 - The terrace will be extended over the roof of the extension, allowing for paved and grassy areas. The land facing the Lake in front of the extension will be landscaped. New boys' and girls' toilets will be constructed in the basement together with the installation of new lockers.

Time scale: The preparation work will soon be completed, with the removal of the hedge and extensive excavation work carried out. The site will be fenced for safety. Excavation will continue until mid-November. Building will continue until mid-April, and furnishing completed by mid-August. It is envisaged that the Official Opening will take place in September 2006.

Once the new facilities are in place, rooms in the main building will be reorganized allowing for, amongst other improvements, a media centre which will be linked to the library.  The plans for the new extension are on display in the school lounge - parents, pupils and staff are warmly invited to come and see them.

Why not keep an eye on our site to see how the project evolves.  The following pictures were taken on the day before work started and then at intervals since then.  As the site changes, new pictures will be added, allowing you to keep pace with developments.
