Good bye Pam and good luck

Leaving St. George's, after 32 years of loyal service to the school is Mrs Angèle Du Pasquier of the Accounts Department.

Angèle started work in St. George’s in September, 1972, after a varied and interesting career. She had worked in the development of military aircraft, travelling regularly between Washington, London and Bonn. This was followed by some years working on the early stages of Concorde, which again involved constant travel between London and Paris.

Fortunately she gave up travelling and settled down in St. George’s, putting her fluent English, French and German to good use in the Accounts department where she worked alongside our Bursar, Mme.Traversini. In Angèle’s early years in St. George’s, all accounts were hand-written, and the one adding machine did just that … add, and subtract. No question of multiplication or long division!

Herself an accomplished sportswoman (she played hockey to County level in England), Angèle took an active interest in the extra-curricular life of the boarders at St. George’s; she organised the riding, including weekend trips to the Jura; helped with the skiing at Col des Mosses; accompanied the boarders on ski trips when we were short of competent staff, and on field trips to Bâle and Paris when teachers were unable to go. In times of crisis, Angèle was always there to help out.

In recent years, she has been responsible for the organisation of all external exams, yet another job which she has accomplished with the usual efficiency and immaculate attention to detail which she has brought to every task she has undertaken.

Our gratitude for a job superbly done, and our very best wishes for the future go with Angèle as she and her husband, quite literally, sail off into the sunset.(yes…she sails as well!)
