Inter House Update
The 3 Houses have been busy throughout the term with the Cross Country, Badminton, Football and Basketball events to be decided.
Inter-House
Cross Country
“It's not the winning that counts, it’s the taking part.” This probably motivated the Atalantan runners just before the start of the 2000 Inter-House Cross Country race. “Rubbish” was the remark to that statement made by none other than Mr. Shaw. It was the true Atalantan style of saying, “It’s all about doing your best and extending yourself further than you thought you could as well as working as a team that is important.”
The juniors opened the race with impressive enthusiasm which was presented to the crowd by a very keen Dianan who shot off followed by Atalanta and Minerva. As predicted, the poor child didn’t last very long in the front as he was completely out of breath, thus moving Atalanta forward.
A tremendous effort was made by Simon and Minami who were the first Atalantans to cross the finish line finishing 5th and 6th overall, resulting in Minerva coming first followed by Atalanta and Diana. Well done, juniors!!
The whistle blew yet again. And the seniors were off with Andrew, Dean and Andre leading the group of already tired runners towards the path that lay ahead of them. Needless to say, the majority of them were tortured by the very thought of it but full credit was given for the determination shown on their faces. Little did they know that the route had been extended.
Andrew finished the 1st lap breathing uncontrollably and with his face as red as his dad’s T-shirt. He finished 1st and immediately dropped right on the grass with very promising words: “I’m gonna faint!” If this was the situation of one of the top runners, one could only imagine the condition and the state of mind the others were in.
Rob, Adil and Dean crossed the finish line arm in arm
showing the true team spirit of Atalanta with Robert looking absolutely stunning
with his famous Scottish hat. “Don’t
worry, people do go through these phases at one point in their lives.
It’s just our luck that Rob chose this day to do it!” explained Mr.
Shaw.
Atalanta won the senior race as well as the overall by just a few points. “Jimmies Rule!” was yelled out loud, as a cry of triumph, by our head boy who was over-whelmed with success.
A huge grin swept across our house daddy as he proudly said, “We done good!”
Congratulations to Atalanta ... winners of the Inter House Cross Country, 2000. Robert complete with "Jimmy Hat" pictured right.

Event.
Inter House Badminton
The Houses went once more into the fray to fight over the spoils of the Inter House Badminton. Once again however, Atalanta were victorious despite supreme efforts from Minerva and Diana.

Inter House Football
This term, the Gods are certainly smiling on Atalanta, who continued on their winning way by adding the Inter-House Football event to their victories in the Cross Country and Badminton. With just one event to go, could Minerva or Diana, snatch victory from the jaws of defeat?

Inter House Basketball
At last, Minerva knock the reds off their perch and emerge victorious in the Inter House Basketball. Come on Diana you need to show what you are made of next term.

Winning smiles from the victorious Minerva team.
