Year 9 Field Trip to Provence

Accompanied By: Mme Bodenmann, Miss Hammal and Mr Jones

Provence was a really interesting place to visit with many famous people having lived there or visited it, such as Van Gogh and Nostradamus.  I loved the small tree-lined streets of Arles, Saintes Maries de la Mer, the great limestone Cathédrale d’Images, ( Cathedral of Images) of Baux, Daudet’s Windmill, le Moulin de Daudet, le Pont du Gard ( a Roman aqueduct) and many other memorable sights.

Our base was in Avignon, practically next door to the Palais des Papes ( Palace of Popes) Which in turn was near the famous bridge Pont St. Benezet, more commonly known as Le Pont d’Avignon.  Although it wasn’t obligatory, the majority of us had a little dance and song on the bridge (much to the dismay of the other visitors!)

Every morning we would set out by coach to wherever we had planned to go that day.  Wherever we went we had to answer questions in our brochure that the teachers had put together before setting out on our field trip.

During our field trip there was a birthday and the birthday girl was Magali.  The class all got together to give her a surprise birthday party with lots of presents and balloons.  We celebrated her birthday the night before in a very nice cosy restaurant in Avignon.

This was a great field trip and I would like to thank all the teachers who made it possible; Mr Jones, Miss Hammal and Mme Bodenmann.  I would also like to thank everyone who went for being such great fun.
