Year 8 Field Trip to Basel

The Year 8 field trip to Basel was really fun, although getting up at quarter past 7 and leaving at half past 9 was not the best part of it.  After the long bus journey we finally came to Basel but we did not go straight to the hotel.  First we visited a Roman site called Augusta Raurica which was very interesting.  Then we went to the hotel, Hotel Admiral.  When we had put all our things in our rooms it was time for a walk along the Rhein.  After supper we went to the cinema to see ‘Keeping the Faith’.  It was very funny.

The next day after breakfast we went to a cartoon museum and had a guided visit.  After the visit to the cartoon museum we went to the zoo and had lunch.  After lunch we had a look round the zoo.  There were loads of animals including rhinos, bears, gorillas, and even hippos.  After the zoo we went back to the hotel and had supper.  After that we went bowling – great fun!

On Wednesday, after breakfast, we walked though the old town of Basel to get to the cathedral.  In the cathedral we went to the very top of one of the towers.  The view was incredible but we were so high that everyone felt too sick to admire the view.  Then we had lunch at McDonalds and went to the Tinguely Museum.  The Tinguely Museum was very interesting because all the sculptures had a button and if you pressed that button they moved and did funny things.  Then we went back to the old town and had some free time for shopping.  After supper there was a quiz on the week and the boys’ team won.

On Thursday everyone was very excited because we were going to have a day trip to Europapark in Germany.  Europapark was really big and we went on lots of rides, but sadly all good things come to an end and it was time to go home.
